Eldis Pardubice, a traditional Czech manufacturer of radar technology and a member of CSG, has completed a key production phase for the first radar systems intended for Vietnam. Following successful acceptance testing, the customer, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), has approved the systems for delivery and installation. This represents an important milestone in the project to modernise Vietnam’s civil air traffic management infrastructure. The ongoing projects include the delivery and installation of a total of eight radar systems, with an aggregate value exceeding USD 20 million.
The projects are being carried out under contracts concluded with VATM in February and December 2025. The first part of the project concerns the delivery of combined surveillance radar systems comprising a primary radar and a Mode S secondary radar (RL-2000/MSSR-1 Mode S), as well as standalone MSSR-1 Mode S secondary surveillance radar systems, for a total of five sites across Vietnam.
The contract includes the supply of radar systems, professional operator training, installation and subsequent testing in the presence of representatives of the end user. The successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test, during which the customer tests the systems at the manufacturer’s premises, has confirmed their readiness for the next phases of the project.
Civil construction works are also under way at all five sites in preparation for the future installation of the new radar systems, which will significantly modernise the infrastructure supporting safe and efficient operations in Vietnamese airspace. “Vietnam is one of the dynamically developing aviation markets, and the modernisation of air traffic management infrastructure is essential for the continued safe growth of civil aviation in the country. The successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test confirms that Eldis is able to deliver advanced radar solutions for demanding international customers. For CSG, this project is also another example of how Czech technologies can succeed in strategically important markets outside Europe,” said Tomáš Vlček, CEO of CSG Aerospace & Defence Electronics.
The second project, which includes the delivery of combined radar systems for three additional sites, is currently in the training phase for ATSEP operators, the technical personnel responsible for the operation and maintenance of air traffic management radar systems. The next planned milestone is the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), followed by shipment to Vietnam.
“The successful progress of both contracts confirms the high technical standard, reliability and quality of our radar systems. We greatly value the trust placed in us by VATM and the opportunity to contribute to the modernisation of infrastructure that is absolutely critical for the further development of Vietnam’s air traffic management,” said Vladimír Vojáček, CEO of Eldis Pardubice.
The current projects build on Eldis’s earlier presence in the Vietnamese market and strengthen the company’s position as a reliable technology partner for the civil and military sectors in the field of radar technology. One example is the complete implementation of three RSP-10 radar systems for the Ministry of Defence between 2018 and 2020.
The growing volume of civil air traffic is creating increased demand for the integration of modern technologies providing airspace surveillance, reliable infrastructure and higher-capacity air traffic management systems. This is precisely the area in which Eldis has long specialised, applying its know-how and technologies developed and manufactured in the Czech Republic in the projects it delivers.
Eldis is an established European manufacturer of radar systems for civil and military customers. The company’s radar systems are widely used, for example, in India, where they cover practically the country’s entire airspace and where the Pardubice-based company has already delivered almost 50 radar systems in various configurations and is currently fulfilling an order for a further 20 units. Other examples of successful international cooperation include projects in Poland, Norway, Germany, Turkey, Morocco and Indonesia. The company has long developed and supplied next-generation radar systems, and its products comply with the latest international ICAO and EUROCONTROL standards and requirements for air traffic management.
Vietnam Builds on CSG’s Record Contracts in Southeast Asia
From the perspective of CSG as a whole, Vietnam is one of the important markets in East and Southeast Asia. In addition to projects in civil and military radar technologies, CSG companies in the region also carry out military modernisation projects and supply spare parts for armoured vehicles, artillery systems and other specialised land equipment. These activities include, for example, deliveries of AM-50 bridge vehicles by Excalibur Army.
CSG’s strong position in the wider Southeast Asian region is also demonstrated by the Group’s other export successes. These include this year’s contracts for the delivery of air defence systems worth almost USD 2.5 billion, the earlier MRAD project for the delivery of a medium-range air defence system, contracts for Patriot armoured vehicles through Excalibur Army, and a significant contract for the supply of small-calibre ammunition worth hundreds of millions of dollars, to be delivered by companies of the CSG Ammo+ division.
