The 36th edition of the largest display of modern and historic military equipment in Czechia, called Land Forces Day – Bahna, will take place on Saturday, 6 June, from 9 a.m. in the former military training area at the Bahna site near Strašice, not far from Rokycany. As in previous years, Excalibur Army and Tatra Defence from the CSG group, together with the Tatra Trucks automotive company, will present their latest equipment there.
The Tatra Defence company will present the Pandur 8×8 EVO vehicle to the general public. It is an entirely new generation of eight-wheeled armoured vehicle, featuring a high level of ballistic and mine protection that fully meets the requirements of today’s armies for vehicles in this category. It is equipped not only with advanced electronic and communication systems, but also, for example, with a situational awareness system. The design of the Pandur 8×8 EVO platform enables the production of various vehicle versions, ranging from combat, command and communication variants to fire-support, air-defence and engineer vehicles. At Bahna, the Pandur 8x8 EVO will be displayed in the configuration of a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle (WIFV), equipped with an unmanned weapon station whose main armament is a 30 mm automatic cannon.
Tatra Trucks will present the modernised Tatra 810M Tactic to visitors at Bahna. The Tatra 810M is a medium-duty all-wheel-drive truck with a payload capacity of up to 5.2 tonnes, closely following its proven and successful predecessor, which is in service with the Czech Army and other armed forces. Visitors will also be able to view two latest third-generation Tatra Force military vehicles, which are to be introduced into service with the Czech Army. One vehicle will be configured as a hook loader on an 8×8 chassis, while the other will be a flatbed truck on a 6×6 chassis. The third generation of the Force military range is equipped with modern air-cooled Tatra V8 or V12 engines, or with foreign liquid-cooled Cummins and Caterpillar power units. It also features advanced onboard electronics and offers a high level of safety, ergonomics and ease of operation.
The cab for the Force range is produced in both a short two-door and a long four-door version. It is equipped with above-standard safety features, a modern interior, a digitalised dashboard and modern electronic systems. The robust cab structure ensures a high level of crew protection, while the design of Force vehicles enables the standard cab to be quickly replaced with an armoured one in field conditions. The replaceable cab mounting and tilting components, as well as the routing of electrical and pneumatic lines, are adapted for this purpose. The chassis uses Tatra’s proven concept of a central backbone tube and independently suspended swinging half-axles with air suspension. Multi-axle versions with different numbers of driven and steerable axles are available.
The Excalibur Army company will show visitors at Bahna the Patriot 4×4, a modular armoured vehicle in the medium weight category. It is built on a Tatra chassis with a central backbone tube, independently suspended swinging half-axles and all-wheel drive. Thanks to its versatility and modularity, the Patriot 4×4 is suitable for combat deployment, patrol missions and reconnaissance activities. It provides a suitable platform for command, liaison, communication, CBRN or medical vehicles, as well as for weapon-system carriers. It can also be used by security forces and civilian services, such as the police, fire brigades, rescue services, private security companies and others.
The Bahna event is organised by the Land Forces Command and the Czech Army Land Forces Foundation. Its aim is to demonstrate to all those interested in modern military equipment the professional readiness of members of the Czech Armed Forces and allied NATO armies. Companies belonging to the CSG group and Tatra Trucks are traditional partners of events of this kind and support activities that present the work of armed forces to the general public. These forces protect the security of the state and its citizens, while such events also enable the presentation of the latest products of the Czech defence industry.
