CSG is continuing its extensive investment programme at the Tatra Defence site in Kopřivnice. Over the next three years, it plans to invest approximately EUR 49.7 million in the development of production capacities for military land systems and related facilities. In two stages, a total of 14,000 square metres of new production areas and new administrative facilities will be built there, while new production technologies will also be acquired. The expansion of capacities is also accompanied by significant recruitment of employees.
The first stage of construction of a new production hall has already begun at the Tatra Defence site. It will have an area of 5,500 square metres and will be intended primarily for welding. The project also includes new administrative and social facilities. The production part of the hall is expected to be handed over for trial operation in December 2026, while the administrative part should be completed in April 2027. At the same time, project documentation is being prepared for the second stage of construction. It will immediately follow the first part and will bring another approximately 8,500 square metres of production space. The new hall will be used primarily for machining and painting. Its completion is planned for the first quarter of 2028.
“In total, 14,000 square metres of new production areas will be created in Kopřivnice in two stages. However, CSG’s investment programme does not include construction alone. Over the next three years, we expect investments totalling approximately EUR 49.7 million, which, in addition to the new halls, will also be directed towards machine tools, specialised measuring equipment, technologies and facilities for surface treatment, as well as other production equipment,” explained Tomáš Mohapl, CEO of Tatra Defence. A significant part of the first stage is also a new three-storey administrative facility, which will provide capacity for more than 150 employees. A reception, canteen and social facilities for employees will be located on the ground floor of the building.
The development of the site will also affect the area adjacent to the Tatra Truck Museum. Together with other partners, CSG is preparing modifications to the adjoining area and the construction of parking capacities, which should also be at least partially available to museum visitors. According to the current plan, there is already agreement on the project between CSG, the City of Kopřivnice, the Tatra Truck Museum and the Moravian-Silesian Region. Following final approval of the project at regional level, preparatory work is expected to begin at the end of 2026.
The expansion of CSG’s production capacities in Kopřivnice is also accompanied by growth in the number of employees. “Our original assumption of recruiting up to 300 new employees in connection with the expansion of production remains valid and, according to the current outlook, we should fulfil it by the end of 2026. More than 550 employees currently work in companies operating under the Tatra Defence brand. For 2027, we expect to recruit more than another 100 people,” said Adam Binar, Chief Operating Officer of Tatra Defence.
In addition to investments and the construction of new capacities at Tatra Defence, CSG is also implementing an extensive development programme at Tatra Trucks, which is located in the same industrial site in Kopřivnice. Construction projects at both companies are coordinated so that the available land, infrastructure, utility networks and logistics links can be used as efficiently as possible. The extensive investment programme represents a major expansion of Tatra Defence’s production facilities. The new halls, production technologies and administrative capacities are intended to create conditions for the further growth of Tatra Defence and a significant increase in its production capabilities in the field of military land systems.
